South Point

Ahhhhhhh!!!!!! That's me jumping off the farthest south point in the U.S. which happens to be a 30' cliff. We camped overnight and jumped a few times.

Halape

Over the weekend of Feb 18-20th we hiked down to a beach in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park called Halape. One co-worker and I hiked from our house (~17mi) - pretty cool to walk from your house to this beautiful beach. We swam and snorkeled and relaxed. We all hiked out the shorter way over the "burning lava furnace" taking breaks to snorkel, and caught a ride out in "Joe" our car (more on that later).

Check out the job I'm applying for!

It's Raining

It's been raining alot. Not that I have anything against rain really, I just want to ride my bike, and not be stuck out in the field camp in a 10x12 cabin with nine other people :) But it's forcing me to be productive (rather than playful this weekend) so I'm applying for jobs and thought I'd post a couple more pictures on here. Check out these of Halapae my friend "C" took when we were backpacking.

Rainbow Falls

I visited this piece of tropical paradise back in early February. It really was beautiful, just like you see in a travel brochure. What they don't tell the tourists till they get here is that most fresh water in Hawaii is contaminated with a bacteria called Leptosporosis. You are warned not to swim with open wounds and not to put your head under water, both of which I ignored and I survived. But still, it makes you wonder about "paradise".
