Last weekend I set out on an adventure to the Grand Canyon. It was a long weekend so 6 of us set out to conquer the Canyon. You can't help but be impressed with your smallness when you look out over the canyon, that feeling intensifies as you descend. We set out down the S. Kaibab trailhead in the dark, made it to the North Rim by lunchtime and climbed back out to the South rim around 6:30pm. 13.5 hours, 42 miles, thousands of vertical feet. With good people, it made for a good day. It was hands down the hardest thing I've ever done both physically and mentally, and I'm indebted to my friends who planned this trip, encouraged me to do it, got me through it, and are among the few who don't think I'm nuts!
