The field
It's great to be up in Townsville and see Jamie again! I didn't realize until the day before I got here that it's actually been two years since we've seen each other. She's one of those friends that it doesn't matter- it doesn't seem strange to be hanging out in Australia with her. It just makes me wish I'd stayed in better touch with her because she's so awesome. I hung out in Townsville for a day and went to the aquarium while Jamie was in school, and then the next day we went to her university (James Cook) and I got to help her take care of her frogs and then we were off to the field. This site is north of Townsville in the "tablelands" near the small town of Malanda. I believe it is in Wooroonooran national park (isn't that a mouthful). We spent a couple of days fixing up a siphon system ment to fill small pools in enclosures to keep frogs. We also got to walk a transect of river that night catching frogs. Lots of leeches! I'll get a picture of one soon, or the blood bath they leave behind...
